Annual Short Report 2021

Our Short Report 2021 gives a brief overview of last year’s achievements and what to expect in the future.

 

  • In 2021, the foundation decided to support 20 new projects with a funding volume of CHF 10.9 million. This is the highest amount spent in the history of Velux Stiftung. A major part of the grant budget will support three strategically important projects.

 

  • The new funding program Ophthalmology research in low- and middle-income countries launched successfully. We received 30 applications from research group from all continents: 54% from Asia, 25% form Africa 14% from South America and 7% from the Middle East.

 

  • We were also busy preparing the launch of another new funding program in the field of forestry which will support research at the intersection of forest management, climate change and biodiversity. The program will open this year.

 

  • Last but not least, we are proud to have reached an important milestone of our impact investing strategy: We have lowered our investments linked to fossil fuel to just below 1%.
