The 1st October 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the UN International Day of Older Persons (UNIDOP).

It is also the year when many older adults were confronted with higher risks due to the emergence of COVID-19.

The virtual event UNIDOP 2020 is entitled “Pandemics: Do they change how we address age and ageing?” and will reflect on older people’s participation, contributions, and challenges in the time of COVID-19.

The event will also promote the Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021-2030) and facilitate a discussion between UN experts, civil society, governments and health professions about the five strategic objectives of the Global Strategy and Action Plan on Ageing and Health.
