Since the #COVID-19 outbreak, science is producing new knowledge about the virus at an unseen pace.
In the meantime, many research activities that are not focused on the SARS-CoV2 virus are also affected by the current shutdown/social distancing measures. Velux Stiftung wants to support its grantees in these times of uncertainty.
When universities had to shut down all on-site activities this meant lab work and participant-based studies had to be stopped in most places. Currently, it is not clear when work can go back to a regular mode. Many funded and running projects will experience delays and other drawbacks.
As a private foundation we are in the privileged position to take proactive measures in such a situation. Today, the board of Velux Stiftung decided a bundle of measures to support its grantees with pragmatic solutions to complete the running projects. Additionally, the board decided not to cut the annual grant budget despite the significant losses in the financial markets.
