Annual Short Report 2024

We are pleased to present out Annual Short Report for 2024, offering an overview and some insights of the foundation's activities.

Last year, the foundation supported research in Switzerland and internationally with 9.2 million Swiss francs. This funding benefited 27 projects across our four funding areas: Daylight Research, Healthy Ageing, Ophthalmology and Forestry.

Daylight research, with its broad and interdisciplinary nature, will continue to be a cornerstone in the foundation’s funding priorities. Looking ahead, the foundation aims to pool efforts and harness potential in this field: The Daylight Academy, a foundation initiative, is an international membership organisation and committed to promoting daylight knowledge and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among daylight experts worldwide. The Daylight Academy has launched a discussion on how daylight research can contribute to addressing the global challenges outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals. The outcomes of these discussions will inform the foundation’s future research funding focus in this area.

A lighthouse project from the funding program “Ophthalmology in low- and middle-income countries” is featured as portrait. The program focuses on building institutional research capacity. By strengthening local research and ownership of research, the program ultimately aims to contribute to improved eye care. The portrait shows how Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, a national eye care institution in Nepal is aims to achieve these goals.
